Strath Gaelic Choir
Art & Culture
We want to travel to the Royal National Mod 2018 in Dunoon, Argyll.
About this cause
We are a choir group, open to all, who enjoy singing in the Gaelic language and participating in the Royal National Mod annually. We have members from all walks of life, some native Gaelic speakers and some complete novices. Spoken Gaelic and vocal tuition is given on a weekly basis with an option to go forward and take a Gaelic speaking test before the RNM each year. The Choir performs locally throughout the year and takes part in local Community events in order to raise funds to be able to travel to local Mods and the RNM annually. The Choir and it's members are dedicated to the progression of the Gaelic language and culture through education, practice, performance and promotion throughout the Skye and Lochalsh area and beyond.
How this cause brings people in the community together
By keeping the traditions and culture of the Gaelic language alive through performance in the local community and through education. The Members are keen to take their Gaelic language skills into the local community and hold conversation classes open to no-choir members and also attend courses at the Gaelic College in their own time and at their own expense.
