Hamnavoe Carers Helping with Transport for Elderly

About this cause

Hamnavoe Carers is run by a committe of 9 volunteers who help provide transport for the older and disabled people of Stromness. This is an invaluable service supporting their needs for shopping trips, to the Co-op twice weekly, on days out to local events, away days off the island, transport to funerals, hospital visits and church. We have several volunteer drivers of our ageing mini bus. Our local Council has supported us well with the upkeep of the bus but as resources are tightening we are in fear of losing this plus it is only a matter of time before we need to replace the outdated bus. Our funding is purely from accumulated donations and regular Whist nights. We feel this is a life line service for the elderly and hope it can continue. We would appreciate your help.
