About this cause

The Crowcombe and Stogumber PTA is a registered charity which was amalgamated when the 2 Primary schools were federated in 2005. It is run on a voluntary basis by parents from both schools that give up considerable amounts of their own personal time to ensure the wellbeing of the pupils who attend both schools. All projects are agreed by the staff and headmistress, Mrs Julie Norman, who are responsible for ensuring that projects meet all the education requirements of the curriculum. All expenditure on projects is ranked by priority and agreed by the committee. The total number of pupils in both schools and the Pre-school is 114 (May 2017). We estimate around 24% of pupils are on Pupil Premium or have additional needs.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Each classroom is shared by 2 year groups & the Pre-school is located in the school hall. The new space will support families of children with additional needs & help improve our facilities through the creation of a sensory space, as well as: a quiet space for calmness & contemplation, an area for reading, storage of library books & study time, & for 1:1 support, marking & lesson planning.
