About this cause

The Foundation Account is a Trust Fund which was originally set up many years ago from money that was left over from the old Grammar School Foundation. The Account Fund is drawn upon to support those students that are on Free School Meals. Student are given help of £20 a year towards the cost of their school uniform, either towards PE kit, or towards a jumper and tie which they can buy direct from the school. They are also offered help towards school trips, up to one-third of the total cost, which has meant that many students have benefited, especially those that would not normally be able to go on school trips. Additionally, the Governors agreed that if there was an unusual and/or one-off reason, where a student needed urgent financial help, then it should be used for this as well.

How this cause brings people in the community together

To ‘provide special assistance, promote education, including social education to students who, in the opinion of the Governors, need help’. For those students who are on Free School Meals, so they are able to buy uniform, and benefit from help towards school trips, especially those that would not normally be able to go on school trips, including trips to Belgium, France and London.
