Cylch Meithrin Nelson
Education & Skills
We want to change our upstairs play room into a 'rising 3s' room to better prepare the children to move into mainstream school.
About this cause
The Cylch Meithrin in Nelson provides early years education for 2 - 4 year olds, through the medium of Welsh. It is a small community nursery that offers morning sessions (5 mornings a week) as well as a 'Ti and Fi' (you and me) session on a Monday for younger children about to start the nursery. We cover a large catchment area and are a feeder nursery for the 3 local Welsh schools in the area. Our objectives are - to provide a fun and engaging environment for the children, where they feel safe to learn and play. There are structured activities which help develop gross motor skills, fine motor skills, language and imagination. This children learn about nutrition and self care. We also aim to provide an affordable and accessible form of childcare for local parents.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Help continue the excellent education experience to all children from the community that attend the nursery. With improved facilities it will encourage new and existing parents to continue to want to send their children to the nursery which will ensure that the nursery continues to provide a service to the community. It will also give the attending children the best start when moving to school.
