We'd like to organise a programme of days out for family members in 2018, providing valuable respite from their day-to-day role as carers.
About this cause
Family Tree Wirral is a small but dynamic charity based in Tranmere, Wirral supporting unpaid carers and family members of people experiencing mental health problems. We currently work with over 700 people to promote the physical and mental well being of carers and family members by providing: • One to one counselling for carers • Training and information sessions • A monthly support group for carers (Family Action) • Advocacy & Welfare Benefits Advice • Social events • A Carers’ Diary & Guide to Mental Health Services • A regular newsletter • A Library on mental health topics
How this cause brings people in the community together
Many carers find it hard to make friends because of their day to day role. A day out with other carers lets them meet people who understand how they are feeling, helping develop friendship networks that endure long beyond the day out itself. They learn how others cope with their caring role and can share their own experiences in a social setting. Carers tell us these trips help lift their mood!
