We want to provide hydrotherapy exercise for Parkinson's sufferers. Money will pay for our use of instructors and the pool.
About this cause
We are the local support branch of Parkinson's UK, We offer support and friendship to Parkinson's sufferers in the area between Woking through to Weybridge. Parkinson's is a degenerative neurological disease for which there is no cure. One of the main symptoms is the stiffening and eventual seizing up of the bodies muscles. Therefore regular exercise is essential, at present some of members attend hydrotherapy classes at White lodge as guests of another group. We would like to set up our own branch's classes at White Lodge, but as we are entirely self funded we would need approx £5000 per annum to fund this venture, which would certainly benefit some of our members.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Exercise is essential if you have Parkinson's, and exercise in water is known to be very beneficial for all stages of disability. I don't have any photos to send you, but you are more than welcome to attend one of our meetings to see for yourself how some of these people suffer and struggle but still keep their sense of humour, and their determination to never give in.
