About this cause

The James Nicholas Foundation aims to raise a minimum of £5000 per year to provide free ECG heart screenings to 100 young adults aged 14-35. These screening days are run by Cardiac Risk in The Young (charity number – 1050845) who state 12 young people a week pass away from undetected heart conditions, whilst CRY complete the screenings, the families provide the funds. Each screening costs £50 pp through CRY, however costs up to £800 if an individual has the tests done privately. We aim to keep screening as many people in the local area as possible (we have four screenings booked for 2017). With sudden adult death, there is rarely any signs/symptoms therefore as a foundation we are fighting to provide this screening to prevent another family/group of people going through what we have.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project will allow many individuals to have peace of mind, whether it be young people themselves or their families. It will provide the local community with access to a facility that is not widely provided without funded events such as ours.
