About this cause

We work with Children and Young People, aged 3 - 21 years, throughout West Yorkshire. We offer counselling/therapeutic play (normally up to 8 sessions of 50 minutes) in various locations which are neutral in terms of mental health 'labelling', such as Sports Centre's, Libraries and Children's Centre's. We aim to help those young people that don't meet the strict criteria required within the statutory system, and yet there is a clear and identified need. Some of the types of difficulties experienced include family breakdown, abuse (sexual, emotional and physical) disability, mental health, self-esteem and bullying. This list is by no means exhaustive, the inclusive and accessible nature of ESCAYP means we are constantly striving to provide help for any young person who is in need of support

How this cause brings people in the community together

We work tirelessly to ensure every young person within our local community gets the support they need as quickly as possible (this is essential as they are often in crisis when they make the referral). Our aim of delivering a counselling/therapeutic play service, we hope, will have a direct impact on the lives/well-being of the young people accessing our organisation and the community around them.
