About this cause
The Lyme Regis Sea School is an RYA training centre teaching sailing wantint to make it accessible to all. We do not have any paid employee’s it is run by volunteers. We believe that sailing is not only an excellent sport, demanding physical and mental skills, but is also a platform for developing life skills which go far beyond the ability to sail a boat. These skills include the ability to operate as a member of a team, to communicate effectively, and to provide the leadership to manage both resources and people. Sailing can assist with improving health and assists in developing a love for a sport which raises the quality of outdoor life. We believe that we can reach out to people from many varieties of life and can help develop, improve the quality and outlook of life to many people.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Sailing is not just for young people. All ages can sail and learn to sail & brings people together of all ages. I will use my son as an example here. He is 13 and he sails with a gentleman who is 80 on his next birthday. Under normal circumstances they would probably not know one another. But sailing has drawn them together and it is a good relationship. It is helping bring people together.
