We want to save lives in Malvern by providing free resuscitation training and by placing defibrillators for anyone to use all around town.
About this cause
Heartstart Malvern is trying to increase the chance of surviving a cardiac arrest in Malvern. The chance of surviving a cardiac arrest in Malvern is less than 10%. It could be as high as at least 25%. We are trying to do this by providing free resuscitation training, which includes the use of a defibrillator. The training takes less than 90 minutes to complete and is very practical. We provide training free to individuals, community groups and schools. We have already trained 800 people. We are also fundraising to place public access defibrillators all around Malvern. These are very simple machines to use but can help save lives. The total cost of installing a defibrillator is about £1,500. Any grants awarded would be used to buy more defibrillators and to help fund our training.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Training as many people as possible to use a defibrillator and installing more defibrillators around Malvern will save lives. Heartstart Malvern believe that we could help save several lives in Malvern every year. Anyone suffering a cardiac arrest in Malvern could benefit by someone nearby having the confidence to use a defibrillator and having a defibrillator nearby available for use.
