Lucas Legacy
Health
We want to raise awareness and funds for our charity, Lucas Legacy: childhood brain tumour research in memory of Lucas Williams, age 6.
About this cause
This charity was set up in memory of Lucas Williams, who passed away in 2015, aged 6. He died from a brain tumour, only 11 weeks after being diagnosed. He was a local boy who attended the nearby school of The Willows Primary in Penkhull. The charity was set up by his parents, Jo and Andrew Williams, to raise awareness and funds for Childhood Brain Tumour Research. Childhood Brain Tumours are the biggest killer of children in the UK, but only 1% of cancer funds go towards this research. There is so much more research to be done to diagnose this condition in its early stages, so that more children have the chance to survive this terrible condition. The charity has had many fund raising events, such as race nights, summer fayre, fun events and bucket collections. LoveNeverEnds
How this cause brings people in the community together
As a local child, Lucas Williams was a pupil at The Willows Primary school. His passing affected all who knew him in the local area of Penkhull and Trentham. The school have made a Woodland Reading area for the school children in his memory, this was funded by the charity Lucas Legacy.
