About this cause

High Five is a small parent led charity, who support disabled children and their families. We offer social support through activities suitable for our most vulnerable child/children, while also engaging our mainstream siblings. We deliver a number of programmes in order to support as many families as possible. We provide 'meet and play' sessions as a monthly anchor of support; specialist sensory provision in school holidays; organise days out to create comfort and confidence in the wider community; run family parties to celebrate our children; preschool events for young children; Senior activities that are age appropriate; and we offer respite opportunities. Our families want the same range of social experiences regardless of ability and we strive to provide this.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Although the children have various disabilities and are affected differently, they all struggle in social situations, display sensory difficulties and have communication problems. Each family is dealing with different needs, but essentially need similar social support. We create opportunities for our families to give and receive mutual support, while also reducing isolation.
