We would like to take the girls on a canoeing course to promote water confidence.
About this cause
Shepherdswell Guides meet weekly and provide girls aged between 10 and 16 the opportunity to develop their beliefs, confidence and leadership skills, whilst making new friends and helping others. We take part in a range of activities and events which includes working on our own in Patrols, joining with the Explorers & Scouts and going on holidays. We plan our own meetings, decide which badges we would like to work towards, which activities we would like to do and how we can help our wider community. We try to offer the girls from the village and surrounding areas opportunities to take part in activities and events that they would otherwise not have access to, either because of financial restraints, difficulties with transport, lack of adult involvement etc.
How this cause brings people in the community together
It will give girls the opportunity to take part in an adventurous activity that is not easily accessible and often seen as a male dominated area. It will give them confidence to encourage other girls from the village to take part in such activities and promote girls being adventurous!
