Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade
Health
We constantly need to replace our rescue equipment not only for the safety of those in difficulty but also for the safety of our volunteers.
About this cause
Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade was formed in 1864 and has since been serving the North East Area. We provide a rescue service available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day and are fully trained in both rope and water rescue to HM Coastguard Standard. We have a rescue team of 23 volunteers and 14 Trustee volunteers, who manage the rescue service, finances and Watch House Museum H.Q. which is a registered maritime museum. We attend coastal and river rescues, assist in flood situations, carry out land searches and assist Northumbria Police, HM Coastguard Helicopter Service and ambulance and fire services. We also attend helicopter landings at the N/castle Hospitals, clearing a way when the sick and injured are being transported in. We are totally voluntary. http://tvlb.org
How this cause brings people in the community together
We constantly need to replace our rescue equipment not only for the safety of those in difficulty but also for the safety of our volunteers. At present we are need new helmets for our entire team, which are costly, as they have almost reached their replacement date. We are also going to have to buy other items of personal protection equipment in the near future
