About this cause

We deliver Youth Work in Aspatria. Our objectives are life changing, i.e. provision of activities designed to promote social welfare and improvement in Young Peoples’ lives. The activities develop their capacities to enable them to participate in society as responsible individuals - and provide opportunities for social experiences with all sections of the community as part of their personal development. The Youth Club has 100+ members aged 12-18 and 7 Volunteers – these being recruited from Young People in our successful ‘grow your own’ Volunteer system. Volunteers are managed by our highly qualified Youth Worker Some become Youth Workers and the emphasis is upon training and qualifications. Our standards are high – but delivering good quality activities involves costs.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Activities include 5 evenings per week in the Youth Club where Young People socialize and take part in baking activities, art and craft groups and minor games – along with involvement in Healthy Living initiatives. Dance and Music sessions and projects are given great emphasis. Outdoor pursuits and residential sessions are important events in the calendar. Events which involve the wider community are often organised. We provide opportunities for Young People themselves to plan and ‘deliver’ various initiatives: the Play Scheme in the summer months involves Dreamscheme members in delivering a ‘whole age group’ initiative for the benefit of the community in Aspatria. Note. The video (downloadable from our website) gives a snapshot of the whole range of Dreamscheme activities.
