About this cause

We provide cost effective transport for all the local community ranging from Cubs and Brownies to our more Senior Citizens. We have 50 groups which represent a wide cross section of the community, and we accept any group and we do not discriminate in any way. We run two buses one of which is enabled as a disability bus. We provide the drivers and train them to the DVLA MIDAS standard. All our volunteers and drivers work for free and we have no paid staff. We provide groups such as AGE UK Co. Durham with buses for shopping trips, and we have no limit on the destination the group wishes to go to. Many of those who use our service would not due either to age our cost be able to go to the destinations they do. Nor would many of the disabled be able to travel at all.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We have a continued need to maintain the buses to ensure they are road worthy and provide easy access. To this end we have an on going project of bus maintenance. This benefits all of our groups and as such the whole of the local community. The benefits can be best expressed as giving those who have limit access to travel the chance to do so. As with all our volunteers our Bus Manager and the team do work for no reward and the grant will be only be used for maintaining our service to the local community.
