About this cause
Prestwood Nature aims to protect and enhance the quality of the natural environment through the involvement of local people. The area encompasses Prestwood and surrounding villages, it is based in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We work with local volunteers undertaking projects that improve the natural environment, monitor local biodiversity and provide public education.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Boug's Meadow is a pasture in the centre of Great Missenden. We are restoring it to a flowery hay meadow with a copse of mixed native trees. It will be an attractive feature for visitors, a means of public education in environmental improvement, an area of increased biodiversity and a focus for community and educational projects in association with local schools and groups. The award of this grant would enable us to significantly speed up the development of the wildflower meadow, through the use of contractors and mechanisation. The provision of information boards, detailing various natural and historical features, together with the species that can be found there along with additional hedging and furniture will improve the site for community and educational use.
