About the Project
We have a number of children from less affluent backgrounds, and their parents cannot afford to fund scouting activities. We believe that all children should be able to access the massive benefits of scouting and we do not discriminate against families who cannot afford weekly subscriptions or for extra curricular activities. We strive to fund camping and outdoor activities for disadvantaged children, and to equip them with suitable clothing, therefore any help with this grant would greatly reduce the pressure on our finances. The children take great pleasure in the outdoor activities we offer them, it builds up their self esteem, builds vital friendships and gives them great memories. Summer camps are currently being planned for all children aged between 6-14.
About the Charity
We provide fun and education for young people between the ages of 6 and 14. Run entirely by volunteers, we offer activities including camping, canoeing, archery and hiking. Young people earn badges for a wide range of achievements, increasing their confidence in a safe environment. Our emphasis on outdoor activities, together with a strong sense of our role in the wider community, allows children to attain their true potential. Based in Leadgate, County Durham, we are open to all children within the age range irrespective of ethnicity, disability or background. Children benefit from extended, supportive friendship groups, and in many cases access opportunities not otherwise available to them. All leaders are DBS checked and undergo training as laid down by the Scout Association.
