About this cause

It is an outdoor swimming pool, open for 15 weeks a year. The management team are all volunteers and all the preparation work is also completed by a small group of local volunteers, which includes preparing and painting the near Olympic size pool by hand. Helpers include community payback workers, the local scouts and guides, ladies from Peterborough Building Society, RAF teams and many individuals. This is a true community project enjoyed by all. Disabled changing facilities are also available. The pool is open daily with school swimming lessons 3 mornings a week. Under 15 fun nights twice weekly and open for private hire. Volunteers help out during the season keeping the gardens weed free. Learning to swim is a very important life skill and we help children to achieve this every year.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We would like to replace our 10 year old inflatable which is now beyond repair. The running of the pool is undertaken on a voluntary basis by a management team and without any outside funding, all costs are maintained entirely by entrance fees, bookings, fundraising and donations, which is why having an asset such as the inflatable is very important for the pool's survival. It is a very valuable piece of equipment for us, as it not only gives enjoyment to all the children who use it on their visits to the pool, but also helps to generate much needed income from the regular fun nights for children and from private hire sessions at the pool. The pool is open to everyone, with our main aim to provide a clean, safe leisure facility at an affordable price to service the needs of our community.
