About this cause

The 7th Bristol (Clifton) Scout Group is a registered charity community organisation based in Clifton Village, Bristol, and is run entirely by a team of dedicated local volunteers. The group exists to actively engage and support as many young people as possible within the local community in their personal development, empowering them to reach their full potential and make a positive contribution to society. Our work aims to make a positive impact in our communities, preparing young people to be active citizens and embrace and contribute to social change. We believe that through adventure we challenge individuals so that they learn and experience new things that enrich their lives.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our Scout Hut in Clifton Village is in desperate need of accessible facilities (WC, accessible doors, accessible meeting space). We want to offer the experience of scouting to local boys and girls (and their parents or carers) who may have accessibility needs. We already have one wheelchair user parent who is unable to use our building due to the complete lack of accessible facilities. The local Guides also use our scout hut, and this means they can offer the experience of guiding to local girls with similar accessibility needs. This will additionally benefit the wider local community through the provision of a centrally located community space with accessible features. Through your support we will be able to install accessible facilities.
