About this cause

We provide two specialised, non-profit making services, affordable to all, which provide vital transport links for local disadvantaged; disabled; frail and elderly people to services and facilities not available locally. Ring & Ride, wheelchair accessible vehicles take passengers door-to-door, on routes poorly serviced by or where no public transport service exists. Passengers regard these journeys as social events and many would otherwise have no means or limited ability to move outside of their homes. Our Voluntary Car Service, responds to the needs of individuals, primarily accessing health related appointments and well-being trips. Passengers are able to access shopping, medical appointments, libraries, day centres, and community gatherings, educational and therapeutic outings.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project will raise independence, social interactivity and uplifting experiences for elderly, wheelchair users, those without own transport, long-term sick and vulnerable residence within a 4 mile radius of the PL21 9BA post code. A ‘Friday’ bus service will transport groups to a variety of uplifting destinations, away from isolation and out of homes that for many act as prisons. The service will be affordable, open to all vulnerable groups and based on known demand. The project will run for 2 years and link with an existing service that transports people in to shop at the Coop. Promotion will include leaflet drops, talks, dedicated webpage, social media and posters around the community. The project will involve local community and other groups who provide services the target group.
