About this cause

We are a group of volunteers who care for vulnerable people, we patrol the streets around the town centre on a weekly basis, times varying depending on the season. Our uniformed presence has a big impact on reducing: Anti Social behaviour. Caring for vulnerable females left on their own in the night time economy ensuring they get a taxi or family come to pick them up so ensuring their safety. Issuing foil blankets to reduce the chance of hypothermia especially during the winter months as the cold wind blows of the north sea. Issuing flipflops to the many hundreds of females who realise during the night that there shoes are so painful, picking up the glass bottles/broken glass which safeguards those in bare feet from the glass also children and animals that walk those streets in the day.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We have been operating for 5 years, in this time we have, helped 5623 vulnerable people of all ages, picked up and binned 9008 bottles and glasses. A huge contribution to our community. On these patrols we carry in rucksacks items including, bottled water, first aid kit, flip flops, dust pan and brush for the broken glass. We need to purchase an extra Support Vehicle as our work expands in summer patrols at the skate park, the Whitley Bay summer fair on the links, and the new hotel near the dome will expand our area. Our summer Friday patrols in Cullercoats has saved lives, young ones on the piers jumping the waves and off the piers is so dangerous, we continually get called to help there and this vehicle would enable us to carry sea rescue throw lines and our Defibrillator.
