About the Project
We urgently need to replace our church hall floor, which has never been replaced since the hall was built in 1958. It has been well looked after and sanded back many times, but is now too thin to sand back anymore and the floor is peppered with ruts and divots making it unsuitable for many activities and potentially unsafe. Over the past 5 years the community has worked hard to raise £12,000 towards the floor, but time is running out and, if the floor isn't replaced by 2017, the hall may need to close until the shortfall of £13,000 is raised. The hall plays an important role in the whole community but, particularly for the elderly community who, for some, it may be the only social contact they receive. Once the money is raised the floor will be instantly replaced.
About the Charity
Berkwish Parish Hall is a community focused church hall which, for 60 years, has provided a central hub and meeting place for the local community and the Holy Trinity Church. Various clubs and activities take place at the church, including: Messy Church, Eucharist, weekly drop in days and coffee mornings for the elderly and a regular timetable of clubs, such as Weight Watchers. Many people rely on the activities that take place at the community hall and, for some, it may be the only social contact that they receive, so it plays an important role within the community.
