Beaumond House Community Hospice

Health

We would very much like to replace a bed and a mattress in our in-patient unit which cares for patients who have life limiting illnesses.

About this cause

Beaumond House Community Hospice is a registered charity that is committed to providing supportive palliative care to patients with life limiting or terminal illnesses and their families living in Newark and a radius of 15 miles. Each year we provide care for over 500 patients and support to their families, caring for around 150 patients at any one time. At Beaumond House, we are really keen to dispel the myth that those we support come here to die. Yes we do support people at the end of life and do so in a way which is truly person centred. We offer personalised, compassionate support where patients’ wishes are respected and delivered and where family members can be with loved ones in an entirely private setting. All of our care is provided at no cost to the patient or their family.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We believe that everyone matters throughout their life right up until they die and that no one should die in avoidable pain, suffering or emotional distress. We place the highest value on ensuring dignity, respect, and the wishes of the person who is ill and aim to look after all their needs. We achieve this by ensuring that all patients and their families have real choice and by ensuring we offer the very best equipment that we can afford. For many seriously ill patients, hospice and palliative care offers a more dignified and comfortable alternative to spending final months in the impersonal environment of a hospital. We provide care to improve quality of life for everyone. Seeking hospice and palliative care is a way to get the most appropriate care in the last phase of life.
