We want to provide expert, specialist training to empower HSB volunteers as they help struggling families to deal with complex issues.
About this cause
Home-Start Bristol (HSB) is an independent family-support charity, managed by local trustees and responsible for its own funding, with a record of 30 years of service in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. Our mission is to provide tailored support to struggling families with young children, enabling them to develop strategies to cope with current and future difficulties. Parent volunteers, trained and supported by our professional staff team, visit families at home, working with them to build confidence and resilience, and to develop a sense of belonging to their local community. Families are referred for support by Health and Social Work professionals, Children’s Centres and specialist agencies, eg debt, drug, alcohol and domestic abuse services.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The training events will bring together volunteers to co-operate in learning, sharing experiences and working to support families. Training will be sourced from other local agencies, both statutory and charitable, which have the experience and expertise we need. This promotes co-operation and collaboration with local organisations which might share our training and refer families for our support.
