We want to erect a large polytunnel where isolated and vulnerable adults and people with dementia can come together and grow plants.
About this cause
At Gorfenna Care Farm we offer day care placements to people from different age groups and health conditions. These include: • People with mental health problems • People with stress, anxiety or depression • People with learning difficulties • Older people including those living with dementia or experiencing rural isolation • People with physical health problems/ brain injury • autistic spectrum disorder, • Volunteers • Local communities Typical activities include: • Caring from Animals • Gardening • Farm Projects • Woodworking • Art and Crafts projects
How this cause brings people in the community together
There is a well-established body of evidence that shows that spending time hands-on with plants and animals can make a noticeable difference to your well-being. Benefits include increased self-esteem, improved social interaction and preventing deterioration in many conditions. As a Care Farm involved with Dementia Adventure, the project will be promoted to adults who would benefit from it.
