We want to deliver 18 weeks of holiday play schemes in safe, secure spaces across Halton, for children aged 5-12.
About this cause
Our mission is to offer play opportunities to all children, of all abilities, aged from birth to 18 across several diverse services. Our Short Break services are delivered on a weekly basis across Halton offering additional needs children, aged 4 to 18, a safe secure environment which addresses their needs whilst offering social and play opportunities. We operate an Open Access Saturday Play Club in Widnes for ages 5 to 12, as well as 18 weeks of Holiday Playschemes, which again run across Halton. The Additional Need children from our short break service attend these playschemes with a 1:1 support worker. Our Toy Library service supports families from the birth of the child with strategies to engage in play, our drop in play sessions offer the option to hire toys for £1 for 2 weeks.
How this cause brings people in the community together
These playschemes support families across the borough, enabling children to have a safe environment to play in. With our additional need children attending this promotes inclusion and shows diversity to all. We encourage local groups to come into the sessions to encourage children to participate, ie rugby teams, dance troops. These services help to reduce anti social behaviour in the community.
